Hana Hotels

Hana town itself is one of the major attractions on the island. With its quiet streets and beautiful beaches, it is no wonder. This beauty comes at a cost though. That cost to you and me is of course...…the drive.

You can expect, on a good day to spend about 3.5 hours driving from Kahalui to Hana (Kahalui is where the airport is). So, if you are staying in, say Lahaina or Kaanapali your drive is looking like 4+ hours.

Your time along the drive will be spent stopping at wonderful waterfalls, panoramic lookouts and just cruisin’ along through the rainforest that is along the road. Traffic is most of the time light, but slow and a good pack lunch and some beverages are well worth the effort.

Once you arrive in Hana you will be enveloped in an “old school” Maui flavor, one that cruises to its own beat and pulse. If you are looking for some great photo ops you should try these on for size. There are 3 waterfalls just outside of town. Waimoku falls (400 ft), Makahiku falls (200 ft) & Wailua falls (95 ft) are all great places to hang out and snap some photos.

Another great destination is Hamoa beach, a favorite of author James Michener. who stated, "The only beach I've ever seen that looks like the South Pacific was in the North Pacific" and that my friends is what Hana town is all about.
