A litlle FYI - Wailuku literally translates as “Destructive Waters” recalls one of the fierce battles in the history of island warfare in pre-contact times. This battle took place in the late 1700’s, was won by Kamehameha with the help of two foreigners and a cannon. This was the home and capitol of the Ali'i on the island, and after contact occurred, the area became the sleepy small town that it is today, resting in the shadow of Kahului, the modern capitol of the island. |
